Beryllium Beryllate, Be(OK)2

Potassium beryllate, Be(OK)2, has been described as a snow-white mass with a silky lustre. It was prepared by dissolving beryllia in aqueous or alcoholic potassium hydroxide, but contained some potassium carbonate. It is very hygroscopic and easily hydrolysed by water. There is a similar compound with sodium.
